I have so many things to blog about: The Pumpkin Patch, Soccer, Clogging etc, etc...but those will have to wait a little longer. Today my Grandpa's are on my mind.
First Grandpa Dalebout: I've been crying all morning! Grandpa was supposed to come over this morning and I was going to interview him on camera. Instead Grandpa called, exhausted from the lack of sleep. He'd been up most of the night feeling both thankful and emotional that he has sold his house. We had a good cry on the phone and then I hung up and kept right on going.
I'm going to miss Grandpa when he moves to Logan in January--I'm going to miss his home and all the memories of it! They are some of my most cherished memories growing up: flipping pancakes around the island, playing on the stairs and jumping off the side of those stairs, doing family history. I'm going to miss Grandpa being 20 minutes away from me and his occasional surprise visits. I'm going to miss many things, but as he reminded me this morning, "Jenren, I'm not dying, I'm just moving to Logan."
I am glad for that! I suppose I'll be making a few more trips to Logan!
I love you Grandpa!
Second Grandpa Miller: Last week Grandpa Miller turned 105 years old--yes, I'm not joking--105! Can you believe that? What a great great man. Mom had a big Birthday party for him at her house. Grandpa has been spending the last few years compiling his life history--Glen and Opal have been key in typing and editing it for him. Grandpa was determined to have the book done and published by his birthday party. As the guests were arriving, so were all of the books. Grandpa paid to have every child, grandchild, great-grandchild and great great grandchild receive a book. WHAT A GIFT! Absolutely priceless. My children will never forget grandpa as long as they live--they have a wonderful book containing his life history.
What a great lesson and example to us all! I love you grandpa and hope you're around for another 105 years!
What a legacy!
The news of Grandpa D. selling his house is new to us. That will be a big change. Thank goodness you all have such fond memories there. Can't wait to read Grandpa Miller's book!

Oh Jenny. I just spoke with Grandpa Sunday and he hadn't sold his house--that was quick...deep down inside I was hoping we would somehow move back to Utah and buy his house some day. I guess that dream will have to die:-) I'm sure you'll miss Grandpa D. and Mom and Dad when they leave. What are you going to do, Jenny? How is it that we all grew up in Provo/Orem and now we're all leaving or gone. What happened? Oh, I guess you'll have Grandpa Miller because we all know he's not going anywhere...he's one of the three Nephites...I'm certain of it. Who else can live to be 105 and live alone and still look as photogenic as he does. Hollywood needs his secrets....I think it's the orange rind, I do. When do we get our books and are you coming to Sandy Ego for Thanksgiving?

This is a sweet post, Jenny, and made me cry. Those are such good, good men. I feel lucky to have married into their family! The one sad thing for us about living far away is that our children don't get to see their grandparents and great-grandparents on a regular basis. This was an especially poignant reminder of all we are missing. I'm glad you know how lucky you are. Give them hugs for us!

What a wonderful post, Jen! Both Grandpa D. and Grandpa Miller look great! I can imagine how much you will miss Grandpa D. when he moves to Logan. We just saw the notice about Grandpa Miller's birthday in the Church News. You have been blessed with wonderful grandparents - and how lucky you are to have both Grandpas still around!
